位于春城昆明的云南师范大学是一所历史悠久、传统优良的省属重点师范大学，其前身是诞生于1938年的国立西南联合大学师范学院。1946年，组成西南联大的北京大学、清华大学、南开大学三校复员北返，师范学院留昆独立设置，定名国立昆明师范学院，1950年改名昆明师范学院，1984年更名为云南师范大学，1999年与云南教育学院、云南体育进修学院合并重组云南师范大学。建校70余年来，学校恪守西南联大“刚毅坚卓”的校训，形成了“学高身正、明德睿智”的校风，已形成全日制高等教育、成人高等教育、高等职业教育、留学生教育的人才培养形式，构建了博士后、博士、硕士、本科教育完整的人才培养体系，已为国家培养了各级各类人才20余万人，被誉为“红土高原上的教师摇篮”。

学校占地面积3330亩，下设23个学院，2个独立学院，40余个科研机构。现有全日制博士、硕士研究生和本科生27000余人，成人继续教育学生18000余人，图书资料300余万册，是中国高等教育文献保障系统云南文献信息服务中心建设单位，建有“万兆主干”的新一代“数字校园”。学校主办的《云南师范大学学报（哲社版）》进入全国高校文科学报30强之列，为CSSCI来源期刊、中文核心期刊；《云南师范大学学报（自然科学版）》为中国科技核心期刊；在全国大学学报中首创《云南师范大学学报·对外汉语教学与研究版》。

学校拥有文、史、哲、法、教、管、理、工、经济、艺术10大学科门类，形成了以教师教育为特色，文理并重、基础宽厚、多学科协调发展的学科与专业格局。学校现有83个本科专业，1个博士后流动站，1个一级学科博士点，7个二级学科博士点，26个一级学科硕士点，130个二级学科硕士点，有教育硕士、工商管理硕士（MBA）等10个专业硕士学位授权点，是全国首批招收和培养汉语国际教育硕士专业学位研究生的24所试点高校之一。

学校拥有国家太阳能热水器质检中心、太阳能转化-储存材料与器件中英研究开发中心、教育部重点实验室、教育部工程研究中心、教育部创新团队、国家专业技术人员继续教育基地、国家体育总局体育文化研究基地、云南省重点实验室、云南省创新人才基地、云南省哲学社会科学研究基地、云南省院士（专家）工作站——吉亨·阿玛拉通加院士工作站、云南省创新团队、云南省哲学社会科学创新团队、中国西南对外开放与边疆安全研究中心、汉藏语研究院、云南研究院、云南华文学院、卜励德美国研究中心、朗宁加拿大研究中心和“中国·昆明泛亚人才教育与发展战略研究中心”等一批国家级、省部级科研平台及基地。近五年来，学校承担了国家社科基金重大招标项目、国家“973”项目、国家“863”计划项目、科技部重大支撑计划、国际合作重大专项项目、国家自然科学基金重点项目、国家社科基金项目等重大科研项目100余项，承担其它科技项目1000余项，授权专利100余项，教育部、文化部、国家体育总局、云南省等省级以上的成果获奖190余项，科研经费超过5.2亿。在少数民族哲学、福利文化、群体行为涌现机理及风险辨识、边疆地理、边疆教育与人力资源开发、区域合作与边疆经济发展、对外开放与边疆社会稳定等研究领域具备了较强的优势。一些金属氧化物纳米线传感阵列测定多种肿瘤标记物的研究、Stokes光谱反演太阳矢量磁场的技术研究及应用、有γ辐射的类星体CCD观测和高能辐射机制研究、非线性分析中的若干障碍问题及相关问题研究、基于与建筑结合的太阳能集热器件能量传输转换机理研究、云南西部横断山小型兽类冷适应模式与生存适应对策的研究、镶嵌纳米贵金属颗粒的氧化钡复合薄膜的制备和特性等进入国内领先和国际先进水平。

学校现有教职工2200余人，其中专任教师1600余人，教授、副教授600余人，拥有国家突出贡献专家、国务院特殊津贴获得者、国家“百千万人才工程”、中国科学院“百人计划”、教育部高校青年教师奖、教育部“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”入选者、云南省高端科技人才等一批专家学者。诺贝尔奖获得者杨振宁，中科院院士杨乐、郭柏灵、戴汝为，英国皇家工程院院士、剑桥大学教授阿马拉通加，美国《纽约时报》前总编、普利策奖评审委员会前任主席西默·托平，世界著名未来学家约翰·奈斯比特博士等40余个国家和地区的近100位知名专家被聘为学校名誉教授、客座教授或兼职教授。

About Yunnan Normal University

Located in Kunming which is called “City of Perennial Spring” and conceived in the Teachers College of the National Southwest Associated University which was established in 1938 from the merger of Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University, Yunnan Normal University is a provincial key university that has a long and fine tradition. In 1946, the three prestigious universities were moved back to their original campuses in the north of China but the Teachers College remained in Kunming. It adopted the name of the National Kunming Normal College in 1946, Kunming Normal College in 1950 and Yunnan Normal University in 1984 respectively. In 1999, Yunnan Education College and Yunnan Sports College merged into Yunnan Normal University. In its development of over seventy years, the university has adhered to its motto of “perseverance in personality; devotion to teaching and learning; pursuit of virtue and wisdom”. It has a fairly complete education system for offering either post-doctoral, doctoral, master’s or bachelor’s degrees to full-time, part-time, vocational, adult and international students. Up to now, it has produced more than 200,000 graduates of different kinds and is rightfully praised as the cradle of qualified teachers on this lateritic plateau.

The university covers a total area of 3,330 Mu(about 543 acres). It consists of 23 schools plus two independent schools and more than 40 research institutes. In the past five years, the university has taken on over 100 prestigious key research projects like the National Social Science Foundation Major Project, the National Natural Science Foundation Major Project, “973” Project, “863” Project, and some key international joint projects plus 1,000 other research projects of various kinds. It has obtained more than 100 patents and received more than 190 research prizes at the provincial level or above with the research funds totaling over 520,000,000 Yuan(RMB). Some of its research findings rank among the best in China, including tumor marker research, the Strokes spectral inversion sun vector magnetic field,the γ radiation quasars CCD observations and research of high-energy radiation mechanism,nonlinear analysis, solar heater research, Barium oxide composite film research,buoyant jets, philosophical studies of ethnic minorities in China, welfare culture, mechanism of group actions and risk prediction, borderland geography and education, human resource development, regional cooperation, borderland economy and stability,small animal studies in Hengduan Mountains in west Yunnan, etc.

The university has a staff of about 2,200, of whom 1,600 are full-time teachers and 600 are professors and associate professors. Some of them are experts with honors from the Central Government, the State Council of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Education of China or Yunnan Provincial Government. The university has invited about 100 well-known experts from 40 countries and regions all over the world as its Honorary Professors, Guest Professors or Adjunct Professors, including Professor Chen-Ning Franklin Yang, a Nobel Prize winner, Professor Yang Le, Professor Guo Bailing and Professor Dai Ruwei who are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Gehan Amaratunga from Cambridge University, an academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering, U.K., Professor Seymour Topping, former Administrator of the Pulitzer Prizes, managing editor for the New York Times and president of the American Society of Newspaper Editors, and Dr. John Naisbitt, a well-known futurist.

The university boasts of its international vision and modern ideas. It is one of the ten universities selected by the Ministry of Education of China and the Office of Chinese Language Council, a teacher-training base for international promotion of TCF sponsored by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, a HSK test center and a CFL test center. It has a Chinese education base sponsored by the Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs, and a TCFL teacher-training base for Southeast Asian countries. It is one of the first Chinese universities selected by the Chinese Government to establish Confucius Institute abroad and provide Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship to international students. Up to now, it has established one Confucius Institute, three Confucius Classrooms and five Chinese culture centers abroad.
